The Fabled Team- Sitting Down with Sandy White

The next in a series of posts introducing our talented Fabled Team

Introducing Sandy White, our Director.

Sandy is the visionary force steering the ship as our Creative Director at Fabled. The team adores her modesty, wonderful artistry, and wealth of experience, and she is truly one of the most exceptional leaders in our industry.

1) Talk us through your career so far. Always a fine artist at heart, I wanted to apply my creativity to the film world until I discovered Theme Parks! So I went from working on some epic films such as Les Misérables (working with the amazing Hugh Jackman), doing Prop Painting, and assisting in art departments (at the same time as learning to draft for film and studying 3D animation & VFX) to landing my first job at RMA where we designed the First Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park, worked with Jorvik Viking Centre and Cadbury World, amongst other inspiring projects. I have since worked as a freelancer on brilliant projects like the National Geographic Ultimate Explorer FECs and set up Fabled!

2) What do you enjoy most about Fabled? I love our team; they are such talented people with a great culture. We don't take ourselves too seriously and love learning all the time.

3) What are you and the team bringing to the themed attraction industry? We design our attractions by really listening to what the client needs. We bring our creativity and innovative solutions to a collaborative partnership that ensures these extraordinary concepts are brought to life.

4) What are your favourite parts of your work? My favourite part of any project is learning about the subject, which is always different! I also love advancing our company's skills, like new software such as Unreal, to create even more stunning visuals.

5. What advice would you give to anyone looking to get into this industry? If I could give anyone advice about starting in this industry, it would be to go and see as many attractions as you can. My local go-to was always Thorpe Park and Chessington. Look at how the entire guest journey works, from car parking and toilets to queue line narratives and then the rides, and look at it from different demographics too. I would also say, never stop learning; there's always a new skill or software advancement to learn!

6. What 3 tools (digital or real) could you not live without while working? I could not live without my x3 screens, my Wacom Cintique, Photoshop, or Cinema 4D.

7. How does your typical workday go? A typical day involves speed dialing with all my colleagues, setting up roadmaps for the delivery of our latest projects, and then getting into the fun stuff - creating our visitor experiences in 3D and visualizing those for the next stage of development. Detail design and build!

8. If you could only use one emoji for the rest of your life, what would it be? 🥰

9. Name one movie you think should have a sequel. Interview with the Vampire.
