The Fabled Team- Sitting Down with Andy Warner.

The first in a series of posts introducing our talented Fabled Team

Introducing Andy Warner, one of our Designers.

Based in the picturesque South Devon with his young family, he spends his free time surfing, climbing, and skateboarding. We managed to pull him away from his 3D modelling to subject him to a few annoying questions (but made it up to him with a cup of coffee—black, americano—so we're square now).

1. Talk us through your career so far.
I graduated in Automotive Design and was offered a well-paid, soul-sapping job in the oil industry, but I decided to take a fairly low starting salary for product design instead! Firstly, I worked at Kohler Mira and then Dyson Technology, where I invented a few things and got a few patents. I moved to Devon with my family and dedicated myself to creative 3D in the attraction design industry with Fabled.

2. What do you enjoy most about Fabled?
It's the best job I have ever had, the autonomy, creativity and of course the people!

3. What do you and the team bring to the themed attraction industry?
We have an incredibly talented team and have been building a positive culture that delights our clients and produces some excellent work.

4. What are your favourite aspects of your work?

It's impossible not to enjoy designing themed attractions and working with such a dynamic, talented group of people.

5. What advice would you give anyone looking to improve their 3D modelling skills?
It's like clay modelling. Don’t be afraid or think that you don’t know what to do. Just start with a shape, mould it, extend it, and get on with it, and it will come together.

6. What three tools (digital or tangible) could you not live without whilst working?
3D Connexion Space Mouse, Cinema 4D, three screens!

7. How does your typical work day unfold?
I spend most of my time planning the layouts with our team and CADing our beautiful attractions!

8. What would it be if you had to give your car a name?
The HULK

9. What’s the worst advice you’ve ever been given?
HODL (Bitcoin-related jargon, google it)

10. What game show do you think you could win?
Takeshi's castle
